WHY THE NEED FOR HARDSCAPE LANDSCAPING IN THE COACHELLA VALLEY?
It's simple: We, the southwest section of this Country have been in a 22 straight year drought. For example, water levels have dropped each year to a record low, in the past few months, in the Lake Mead/Hoover Dam/Las Vegas area (A great example for this subject). Now we come to find out, that the State of Colorado has been taking 40% of the Colorado water for use in the eastern half of the state. Under the original water rights contract, they were only supposed to take 20% of the water, from the starting point, of the Colorado river.
And to get back to Las Vegas, their new state law states that all Lawns in due time, must be eliminated for "Hardscape" designs. And no new "Softscape" lawns will be allowed.
Now, the Federal Government has taken over the responsibility of not allowing Lake Mead, which feeds the Hoover Dam for their energy requirements, to drop any lower, for they are dangerously low. This is because, the "states" could not reach an agreement as to whom should reduce their water intake requirements. That is really quite a real story happening today.
